The gallery is a valuable example of an engineering monastery building of the 19th century. It is a ground crossing between the territories of the Near and Far Caves of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. The first gallery was wooden - it is marked on the plan of Kyiv in 1695. Almost a hundred years later, a covered passage appeared - it was completed in 1793. The new gallery was built in 1869. The modern passage consists of three parts: a rotunda on the square in front of the Near Caves (built in 1793), a covered gallery and a pavilion on the territory of the Far Caves (built in 1897). The gallery is a covered passage formed by two rows of stone pillars. The wall from the side of the hill is solid, and from the side of the Dnipro river it has holes. It offers a view of the Dnipro slopes. The gallery has a flat ceiling lined with boards and a plank floor. Since the 19th century, its appearance has not changed significantly. The total length of the gallery is 216 m, without pavilions - 192.8 m.
