Memorial plaque to Mykhailo Deregus

Mykhailo Deregus (1904–1997) – painter and graphic artist, honored artist of the Ukrainian SSR, People's Artist of the USSR, laureate of the State Prize named after T. Shevchenko, chairman of the board of the Union of Artists of Ukraine.

Deregus worked successfully in the field of thematic painting, in landscape and still life, in portrait art. The author of pictorial and graphic works on the topics of Ukrainian history and folk art. In the creative work of the master, a series of etchings based on the works of Ivan Kotlyarevsky, Mykola Hohol, and Lesya Ukrainka. The works of Mykhailo Deregus are preserved in the National Art Museum of Ukraine and other museums in Kyiv. A street in the Solomianskyi District of the capital is named after the artist.

A bronze memorial plaque to Mykhailo Deregus is installed on the facade of the building where the artist lived in 1972-1997. It was unveiled on August 3, 2002.
