Memorial plaque to Oksana Petrusenko

Oksana Petrusenko (1900-1940) - singer, People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, since 1934 - soloist of the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theater. In 1939 she toured with triumph in the west of Ukraine. Petrusenko is an outstanding representative of the Ukrainian vocal school and a performer of Ukrainian folk songs and romances. She had a voice of a silvery timbre, rare in beauty and breadth of range, and an outstanding dramatic talent. She was especially famous for her performances in Ukrainian national operas: Natalka (Natalka-Poltavka by M. Lysenko), Oksana (Zaporozhets za Dunayem by S. Hulak-Artemovsky). She was buried at Baikovo Cemetery. A street in the Goloseevsky district of Kyiv was named after the singer.

A granite memorial plaque of Oksana Petrusenko with a bronze bas-relief portrait is installed on the facade of the house where the singer lived in 1937-40. It was unveiled in 1966.
