Memorial plaque to Mykhailo Drai-Khmara

Mykhailo Drai-Khmara (1889-1939) - poet and literary critic. In 1906-1910 he studied at the College of Pavel Galagan in Kyiv, in 1910-1915 - at the Faculty of History and Philology of Kyiv University. His first collection of poems was published in 1926, two other collections - were published in 1969, after the death of the poet. Mykhailo Drai-Khmara spoke 19 languages ​​and translated works of world classics into Ukrainian, which made an invaluable contribution to the development of Ukrainian literature. He was sentenced for ‘counterrevolutionary terrorism’ in 1936 and perished in a Kolyma labor camp. Rehabilitated in 1989.

A memorial plaque to Mikhail Dry-Khmara is installed on the facade of the house where he lived in the 1920-1930s. Its unveiled on November 6, 2014, on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the poet's birth.

The board was made by the Kyiv Creative Workshop of Architecture, Sculpture and Design of the Rachkovsky family.
