The house on 20 Bulvarno-Kudriavska street is an architectural monument (Security number 317).
Story
The building was built in 1897-1898 according to the design of engineer-architect Mikhail Artynov. All expenses for the construction and equipment of the hospital were financed by the entrepreneur and philanthropist Lazar Brodsky. On the ground floor there was a hall for 300 people, doctors' offices, infectious and surgical departments, a pharmacy, a laboratory, a library, an archive, apartments for medical staff, utility rooms. Now the building houses the Presidium of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine
Architecture
The house is extended into the depths of the estate. Built in brick style with modernized Romanesque and Gothic details. Two-storey in the central part and one-storey in the adjacent premises, brick, plastered, close to a rectangle in plan. It is noted for the functional logic of the layout, with a central cross-shaped waiting room in plan, around which other rooms are grouped. Above the cuts of the risalit there are three panels: the side ones have the dates “1897” and “1898”; on the central one, between the stucco relief, there is a cradle with a baby and a table with medicine, between which there is a figure of a doctor or a nurse resembling an angel. The facade windows are wide, with arched lintels and semi-columns. The windowsill panels are decorated with stucco arabesques, sandriks - in the form of teeth. Partially preserved design of the lobby with a coffered ceiling and a staircase railing of the original design.
