In addition to the guidebook "Kyiv and its surroundings" for 1882, it is stated that the plot at 21 Dmytrivska street belongs to the retired soldier Karlov. Starting from 1889, Lukyan Karlov, who owned it until 1915, is listed as the owner of the plot in similar publications. By his order, a two-story brick house with five windows was built in 1898. By the way, the year of construction is preserved above the central window of the second floor on the main facade. In the following years, the building was reconstructed, as a result of which a mansard floor with three triangular dormers.
